About Me

10505527_10202416459995724_1702508390944832213_nHola amigos! My name is Jessi and I recently accepted an invitation to serve in the Teaching English for Livelihoods program in Colombia. I graduated from Colorado State University in 2012 with a degree in Spanish, Language and Literatures and a minor in Criminology. I also received my teaching certification and have been working as a Spanish teacher at Lewis Central High School in Council Bluffs, IA (Go Titans!)

I was bitten by the travel bug about half way through the school year and decided to apply for the Peace Corps in November, I accepted my invitation to serve in Colombia in March and I leave for training August 25. I swear in as a volunteer in November and will serve until November 2016.

I am incredibly excited about this opportunity and I want to share my experiences with my friends, family and complete strangers which is why I created this blog. I also want a place to look back on my adventures and reflect on my growth. I hope you enjoy my stories! Feel free to leave a comment, I’d love to hear from you!

P.S. Every Peace Corps experience is different and the posts on this blog represent my time here in Colombia and not the thoughts/feelings of the Peace Corps. I only represent myself and not the PC or the US government.
